After having worked with Rick Valicenti and Bud Rodecker of Thirst as our art directors during the past five issues, we are now starting a new phase in which each issue will be designed by an invited design studio building from the guidelines established by Thirst. The work that Rick, Bud and their team have done with MAS Context has been incredible, and the recent 50 Books/50 Covers award for the Repetition issue is a testament of that. Now we look forward to working with the Department of Design and with new invited design studios in the future.
As designers at Leo Burnett Chicago, the Department of Design (DoD) operates like a small design studio. The DoD specializes in bringing brands to life, big and small. They have collectively received some of the industry’s highest honors. They have been recognized by the following: The D&AD, The One Show, Communication Arts, The Type Director’s Club, The Chicago Creative Club, Print Regional Design Annual, the AIGA, The Clios and the Society of Typographic Arts, Chicago. They were also awarded the inaugural D&AD White Pencil award for their launch work on Recipeace, a social movement that brings people in conflict together over food.
Welcome to the team!
