MAS Context is very excited to announce the collaboration with photographer and videographer Phil Donohue on his new project “The Future Was Then.”
“The Future Was Then: Midwest Futurism Now” aims to explore works of a promised future in an era of diminishing returns.
To support the project, Phil Donohue is making four prints available via our shop. 100% of the proceeds go to support the project.
6x8-6x9 in. ink jet self-print on 8.5×11 in. Hahnemühle fineart baryta satin paper
Signed certificate of authenticity
Edition of 50
The four images above, shot between 2017 and 2019, capture built works of midwestern origin that imbued a more imaginative approach to the future in the past, more than much of the modernism of our present. “The Future Was Then” looks to build off this body of work to capture what’s left of a future that could have been.
This fall, Phil Donohue hopes to conclude principle photography in preparation for a new book and exhibition with MAS Context in 2025.
Thanks to all for the support.
