Presented together for the first time in Russia, these publications provide new platforms for architectural commentary, criticism and research. Often edited by architects, artists and students, they offer an alternative to the established press and represent an important addition to global architectural discourse. The editors share an interest in documenting and interrogating how and where we live, and a passion for creating printed matter in the digital age.
The Moscow exhibition is co-curated with architect Anton Ivanov and hosted in a new art space within Tsvetnoy Central Market. It is conceived to function as a public library where visitors can read publications and immerse themselves in recent trends of architecture and design. Video interviews with editors reveal the people behind the publications and the shifting relationship between architecture and publishing today.
Moscow is the final destination in the Archizines world tour that was first exhibited in London in 2011 at the Architectural Association School of Architecture with art direction by Folch Studio. Archizines has now visited 34 cities in total including Tokyo, Hong Kong, Sydney, Los Angeles, New York, Berlin and Buenos Aires. Following the tour, Archizines will be transferred to the National Art Library at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
