About

Jojo Galvan is a Mexican American historian and scholar of cities, suburbs, and material culture. His work in museums is inspired by his experiences growing up in Chicago and in the suburbs of Detroit. He has a Master’s Degree in Museum and Exhibition Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and is a doctoral candidate in American History from Northwestern University in Evanston. In his doctoral studies, he is focusing on how Latine communities persisted in the face of adverse political systems in Cicero, IL, and how their presence continues to shape policy and spatial development in suburban settings.
