Barcelona book launch: Casa Gomis Bertrand / La Ricarda

Iker Gil is a founding partner at MAS Studio and founder of the nonprofit MAS Context. Iker has edited or coedited several books including Radical Logic: On the Work of Ensamble Studio and Shanghai Transforming. He has curated multiple exhibitions including Nocturnal Landscapes, Poured Architecture: Sergio Prego on Miguel Fisac, and BOLD: Alternative Scenarios for Chicago, part of the inaugural Chicago Architecture Biennial. He was Associate Curator of the US Pavilion for the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale and cocurator of Exhibit Columbus 2020–2021. He was the 2024 Morgenstern Visiting Chairs at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and has taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), and the Escola da Cidade (São Paulo).

Jordi Roig is a Barcelona-based architect and cofounder of the studio Jordi Roig Arquitectes Associats slp where people, technique, and research are the fundamental drivers of the practice. He had previously been a partner at Taller de Arquitectos Colaboradores slp and a founding partner at Nogue Onzain Roig. Jordi started his professional career in 1986 working in the studio of architect Antonio Bonet Castellana. He has taught at the School of Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB) since 1991.

Marita Gomis, along with her five siblings, is the owner of Casa Gomis, one of the key midcentury buildings in Spain and the house she grew up in. Commissioned by Ricardo Gomis and Inés Bertrand, it was designed by Antonio Bonet Castellana and completed in 1963. A haven for artistic experimentation, the house hosted many cultural activities and continues to be a must-see destination for architecture students and professionals from around the world. Marita and the rest of the Gomis Bertrand family has diligently preserved it in its original state with the help of local architects Fernando Álvarez and Jordi Roig.
