“Small Adaptations” will examine the role of adaptation and scale within contexts of resource scarcity, climate, and sociopolitical crises in the work of salazarsequeromedina. With geographically dispersed projects in Peru, Spain, South Korea, and the United States, the practice of architecture requires renewed and nuanced attention to diverse cultural and environmental contexts, the scale of material assemblies, tectonic craft, economy of means, and a responsive relationship to its users over time.
Mediating between the as-found condition, constructive economy, and adaptability is the recognition that modest interventions within existing structures can produce meaningful transformations.
Laura Salazar and Pablo Sequero will trace the methodologies of their practice, which has been recognized in multiple international publications, exhibitions, and awards since their collaboration, together with Juan Medina, began in 2020.
