Juan Ignacio del Cueto Ruiz-Funes

Juan Ignacio del Cueto Ruiz-Funes is a Mexican architect who graduated from the UNAM in 1986. In 1996, he received his PhD in Architecture from the UPC in Barcelona. He is an emeritus academic of the Academia Nacional de Arquitectura and a member of DOCOMOMO-Mexico. He is the recipient of the 2011 Juan O’Gorman Award for Professional Merit in Research. Between 2014 and 2019, he was the coordinator of the Centro de Investigaciones en Arquitectura, Urbanismo y Paisaje (CIAUP-FA UNAM). He curated the exhibitions Félix Candela 1910-2010, Candela’s Shell, and Presencia del Exilio Español en la Arquitectura Mexicana. His books Félix Candela 1910-2010 (SECC, 2010), Guía Candela (Arquine, 2013), and Arquitectos Españoles Exiliados en México (Bonilla Artigas, 2014) have been finalists in three Ibero-American Architecture and Urbanism Biennials. He is the editor of Candela, Isler, Müther. Positions on Shell Construction (Birkhäuser, 2020) and La Estela de Félix Candela (México, 2020).
